Customs
CO explained
Certificate of Origin
Issued in the export country to evidence origin, used for duty treatment and trade-remedy questions.
Full definition
For China-origin goods a CCPIT certificate documents that the goods were made in China. Origin matters far beyond the certificate: CBP looks at substantial transformation, so routing goods through a third country does not by itself change origin, and claims of transshipment carry penalty exposure. Keep origin evidence with the production records — it is also the first thing requested in a UFLPA detention.
Worked examples
CCPIT CO, original plus 2 copies, factory charges roughly USD 30–50 per set
